Job Board FAQs

What is the Job Board?

The Job Board is where Makers can post jobs to get (almost) anything made. Fabbers then bid on the opportunity to make the item and win the sale. It's your opportunity to collaborate with a Fabber to get exactly what you want.

You can learn more about how this all works in the questions below, or take a look at these other resources:

Are there any special rules that I need to know?

Yes! All the Job Board transactions are subject to all of our legal terms.

Can I use the Job Board to request anything?

The Job Board is for (almost) anything. So (almost) anything goes. Of course if you wish someone to help you make your favorite rocket ship or nanobot, then it may be wise to look somewhere else.

What currency is used for the Job Board transactions?

All transactions on 100kgarages.com, including the Job Board requests, are in United States Dollars (US$).

Who can post a job on the Job Board?

Anyone can post a job.

Who can bid on jobs on the Job Board?

What is a Qualified Fabber?

You can check out what it takes to join the 100kgarages community here.

What are the 100kgarages.com fees associated with the Job Board?

Zero. There are no fees for Makers to post jobs to the Job Board or for Fabbers to bid on or accept jobs on the Job Board.

Can I negotiate a bid with a Fabber?

Yes, you can communicate with the Fabber via email if you would like to request changes to the bid. The Maker and Fabber should work together to find terms that are they both can agree upon.

Can a Maker accept more than one bid on a job?

Yes. A Maker can accept as many bids as they like. However, each accepted bid should be regarded as an agreement to purchase the item. Please do not accept bids that you do not intend to purchase. You can request changes to a bid prior to accepting it.

Does accepting a bid close my job?

No, your job will remain open to additional bids until you login and cancel it, or it expires. All jobs expire automatically 60 days after being posted.

How do I cancel my request?

Login and cancel it here (or let it expire automatically 60 days after being posted).

How do I pay for my Job Board item?

The Maker and Fabber negotiate the payment terms for a Job Board transaction. The Fabber will include in their bid how they wish to be paid. Some options include full payment upfront, payment by installments (50% as a deposit upfront and 50% when the item is complete), full payment when the item is completed prior to shipping. The Fabber is responsible for sending the Maker an invoice if necessary.

How do I send my Maker an invoice?

You will need to send them an invoice by email.

How do I post a job privately to a specific Fabber?

You can select a Fabber of your choice here.

What happens if a Maker declines a bid, or a Fabber is no longer available to make the item?

Both Maker and Fabber are in email contact to accept, decline or ignore bids and confirm bid acceptances as they see fit. Makers are not obligated to accept bids and Fabbers are not obligated to make items until they confirm a Maker’s acceptance of their bid.

What if I have a problem with a Job Board transaction (Maker doesn't pay, Fabber doesn't ship the item)?

Please contact info@100kgarages.com in this unfortunate event. We'll do our best to help set things right.

What if I accept a bid, but the Fabber doesn't confirm it?

The Maker can cancel an accepted bid via email up until the point the Fabber confirms it. So if the Maker does not hear from the Fabber within a reasonable amount of time, the Maker can retract acceptance of the bid.

What if I see a job post that doesn't follow the policies of 100kgarages.com?

Please contact info@100kgarages.com to let us know that there is an issue with a job post. We'll review the job post and take action if necessary.

How do I post a rating and/or review about a Fabber?

Once you have received your item you will want to help create confidence through transparency by posting a rating and/or review about the Fabber here.
