wood soles for clogs

wood soles for clogs

I've been talking to a clog maker here in the U. S. about creating a line of shoes. I would like to make them stand out from other clogs by creating a distinctive wood sole for the base of the shoe and not use the traditional Swedish clog base. With this in mind, I'm looking for someone to mill the bases with a Shopbot or CNC router. You'd need at least a 6" Z axis, I think, and be able to work with pieces of wood up to 13 or 14" in length.

I'm researching what's possible at the moment. Any insights or suggestions are encouraged. Please ask any questions that come to mind so that I can do a better job of presenting this project.

You can visit my Designer Profile to see images of the clogs created already using an existing base from an Austrian supplier.

I am not sure if you have found someone to mill the bases for your clogs yet or not - I am interested if you have not. Thank you.
