Sustainable Living Lab (SL2) nurtures the 21st century kampung spirit of innovation to build a sustainable future. We are proud to be the technological innovation arm of Ground-Up Initiative (GUI). In the 21st century we are facing sustainability challenges such as environmental degradation, income inequality and over-consumption and we are living in societies where individuals lack compassion, purpose and resilience. We believe that we can resolve these challenges through the power of technology and community in the form of the 21st century kampung (village) spirit. At SL2 we combine the scale of technology with the resourcefulness of the village, to nurture decisive and purposeful makers who dare to explore and experiment breakthrough ideas that can build a sustainable future. Through our community prototyping workshop, we provide makers with access to courses, tools, and community support to create products that promote sustainable living in practice. As a technology-driven social enterprise, the growing maker community at SL2 also contributes their technical expertise, fabrication skills and scientific knowledge to GUI - a non-profit and volunteer-driven organisation - in its social and environmental initiatives locally and globally.
